Hinsdale Humane Society Pet Walk & Run 5K Fundraiser

Hinsdale Humane Society’s dog and stroller-friendly
certified 5K Race returns to Katherine Legge Park, 8-11am

Hinsdale Humane Society’s annual Pet Walk & Run fundraiser returns for the 29th year on Sunday, June 3 from 8-11am at Katherine Legge Memorial Park, 5901 S. County Line Road in Hinsdale. The certified 5K run provides a scenic route throughout Hinsdale neighborhoods, and begins and ends in Katherine Legge Park.

The event features the return of M.C. Judy Hsu from ABC-7 Chicago, sharing her energy and enthusiasm for the cause with the community. There will be a vendor mall, DJ, entertainment, food, a Kids Dash and awards going to top finishers in each age bracket.

“This event continues to grow and change in its 29th year,” said Mistie Lucht, Race Director. “Who knows what next year will bring with the shelter’s new location, so I encourage people to sign up for this year’s Pet Walk since you never know… we could be moving it next year… anything is possible!”

Registration is $35 per adult runner (price goes up to $40 after May 1. Walkers (not timed) are $25, children age 9 and under running the 5K (timed) are $25 and Kids Dash participants are $10 each, and will each receive a hero cape. Race day registration is from 7-7:30am (t-shirts are not guaranteed day of race). Warm-up with Midtown Athletic Club begins at 7:45am, Kids Dash at 9:30am and 5K Race Awards are presented at 9:45am.

“There are big changes coming for HHS with our move, so it’s great to be able to have this event that  is such a big part of our long history in this community,” said Jacki Rossi, HHS Development Director. “We look forward to having a fantastic day of fundraising with all of our friends, supporters, and of course, all of the animals.”

The Vendor Mall will feature dozens of local area businesses, many of whom have free giveaways for attendees. Local rescue groups will also be featured within the mall area as well as Ask-A-Trainer and Ask-A-Vet booths. Activities for children include a Kids Dash, bubbles and face painting.

For runners, race packet pick-up takes place at Midtown Athletic Club at 215 63rd St in Willowbrook on Friday, June 1 from 6-8pm and Saturday, June 2 from 9am-noon.
