Building permits are required for building construction, alterations, repairs and demolition. Separate permits are required for electrical work, plumbing, driveways, water-freon-cooled air-conditioning units, fences, decks and porches.
Permit fees vary with the nature and scope of the work. Permits are issued at the Village Office in the Building Department. Detailed plans must accompany permit applications. Commercial construction requires approval of the Plan Commission and Village Board prior to issuance of a permit.
Commercial signs require Plan Commission approval and a permit.
A separate permit for sewers is required from the Hinsdale Sanitary District before a building permit is issued by the village.
